M1858/1873 WW1 German Ulan Cavalry Trooper's
Sabre (Sold) |
Very good condition and well etched Model 1858/1873 Imperial German
Ulan Cavalry Officer's Sabre and Scabbard; forward cutting edge
sharpened / serrated for combat use.

Marked on the blade's spine to maker Weyersberg & Co Solingen,
marked on both the langet and scabbard "71. A. 3. 11"
which I believe means the ulan cavalry trooper who carried this
was assigned to the 71st Feldartillerie-Regiment Großkomtur
(of the German 35th Division), 3rd Battery with sabre number 11.
Although the trooper was assigned to an artillery regiment, the
lack of canons / presence of lances confirms this was an ulan calvary
man's sabre.

Exceptionally well preserved and well etched, the scabbard has
some light staining but the sword itself is in excellent condition
generally. The blade has been sharpened with a serrated edge along
the final third of its 81cm length.
