19C Indo-Persian Serpent Hilted Toulwar /
Tulwar, Sold |
In good though aged condition, a rare serpent hilted tulwar with
maker's / armourer's mark to blade.

Serpent cross-guards are rare, and a sign of great importance.
Combined with the maker's / armourer's mark to the blade, this sword
was once carried by a very important person indeed.
The 32 1/2 inch curved blade is in good condition, still quite
sharp, and firm in the hilt. It appears the blade was once gilted,
the remains of which can be seen under the langets. The hilt also
once was gilted and something else; only the remnants now remain,
but the hilt still is well decorated and has that rare serpent cross
guard.
Grab it quick; you are unlikely to find another serpent hilted
tulwar for any price, let alone only £? (too late, now sold).
