1908P British South African / Suid Afrika
Cavalry Trooper's Sword, Sold |
In good to very good condition, a 1908P British South African
/ Suid Afrika Cavalry Trooper's Sword.

This is a rare version of the British 1908 pattern cavalry trooper's
sword; one marked to and used in South Africa. It is rare both due
to the South Africa connection, and also that the blade is etched;
this is very rare for a trooper's sword.

The 34 3/4 inch blade has very feint etching, but it appears that
it was made with very feint etching. Blade firm in the hilt. The
hilt good but with some slight damage / bending / misalignment,
probably due to use. Grip good. Steel scabbard good but with some
patina. A little loose when sheathed.
Nice sword at a nice price, just £? (too late, now sold).
