Mid 19C British Coldstream Guards Drummers / Buglers Sword, sold

In good condition, a super rare Mid 19th Century British Coldstream Guards Drummer's & Bugler's sword, probably pre-regulation.

Mid 19C British Coldstream Guards Drummers / Buglers Swordimage L23 1

Sold Item Notice

This is probably a pre-regulation sword. The sword pattern was regulated in 1856, but they were used since 1840. The hilt of this sword is very unlike the regulated 1856P drummer's and bugler's sword, and so therefore is likely to date circa 1850. Made by / etched to Meyer & Mortimer Conduit Street London, with the unmistakable Honi soit qui mal y pense cross badge of the Coldstream Guards to the cross guard.

The 28 7/8 inch blade is in good condition, some patina towards the point, and firm in the hilt. The hilt good though worn and aged. The scabbard OK except for the tip end, where there is a tape repair. The sword sheathes and draws well enough.

A very unique rare sword, yours for just ?? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference L23 (1206). Further / full sized images available upon request.
