1804 pattern Trafalgar era British Royal
Naval Cutlass, Sold |
An 1804 Pattern Royal Naval cutlass, Board of Ordnance marked,
remains of period inscription to blade, in overall good order. Guaranteed
100% authentic.

This is an unusual cutlass only in that the blade has the remains
of an inscription; not a maker's mark but possibly a ship's name
(though too feint for us to determine). This 1804P served with the
British Royal Navy we know, for sure, as there us a broad arrow
and feint crown over number acceptance marks to the hilt / guard.

The 26 1/2 inch blade with feint remnants of engraving down one
side is pitted but sound and overall in good condition for its age.
Blade firm in hilt. The figure of eight hilt is in good shape also,
some bending damage, but not much, some pitting, but not much. The
grip is equally aged though still in good shape. Given the harsh
service lives these cutlasses had, this example is truly well above
average.
A superb investment. Please quote item reference K91. Further /
full sized images available upon request.
