WW2 Japanese Imperial Naval Officer's Kai
Gunto Sword, Sold |
In very good condition, a scarce WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy Officer's
Kai Gunto.

This is a late WW2 Kai Gunto; the blade is unsigned (it has a couple
of painted characters only) with the obligatory anchor stamp. Though
the blade is not gendaito, it does have grain, so it seems a few
steps up from the mass produced blades of the era.

The 64cm (nagasa / point to habaki) blade is in very good condition
with some scuffs / light scratches but too many, and the hamon is
still very clear. The sword fittings are all good. The rayskin saya
with some cracking and scuffing etc. as is to be expected. The sword
sheathes and draws well.
A very nice, well above example with an above average blade. Please
quote item reference J97 (1157). Further / full sized images available
upon request.
