A scarce Queen Elizabeth 2nd British Royal Air Force officer's Wilkinson sword, in aged condition.

Queen Elizabeth 2nd (ERII) British Royal Air Force Officer's Wilkinson Sword

Sales enquiries

This is a scarce sword. Wilkinson made. On the down side, the hilt has lost its gilt and the blade has been replated. so the etching is feint. There is also a couple of rust spots at the tip. It is not in parade ground condition but it could be made so possibly by a specialist refurbisher like Crisp & Sons if someone is looking for an RAF sword for a serving officer. Otherwise it is a bargain priced collector's item.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is firm in the hilt, the hilt is solid / undamaged as far as we can see. The fishskin grip is grubby, but should clean up with some diligence; the twisted grip wire is all there. The leather and gilt steel scabbard is good but aged. The sword sheathes and draws well. The serial number on the spine is 72401 for 1953; we have not researched the original owner with the owner of the Wilkinson Sword sales ledger (this costs £10 if anyone is interested in doing it).

A rare and iconic collector's sword for just £xxx; that is a very low price for a genuine RAF sword. Please quote item number J54 (1147). Further / full sized images available upon request.
