1827P 19C Welsh Glamorgan Volunteer Rifles
Officer's Sword, Sold |
A good Victorian British rifle volunteers sword, marked to the
4th Glamorganshire regiment, owner's initials, in good condition.

A lovely example of a rifle volunteer officer's sword, well etched
with "4th Glamorganshire Volunteer Rifles" and original
owner's initials "W H B" etched to the blade; almost certainly
therefore, the name of the original owner can be researched with
due diligence.

The 32 3/8 inch blade is in good condition, some spotting away
from the etching, some finger print stains (means they are very
old) which could be removed, but otherwise in really good condition
for its age. Blade firm in the hilt. The steel hilt with some former
rust pitting but generally good and sound. The fishskin grip and
associated twisted grip wire bindings are a little worn with a couple
of small worm holes (no extra charge for the worms) but overall
good. The steel scabbard a little aged but good and sound, the sword
sheathes and draws well.
A great example with tons of research potential, yours for only
£? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number
I23 (1053). Further / full sized images available upon request.
