George V Hawksworth Sheffield British Infantry
Officer's Sword, sold
In good to very good condition, a Hawksworth of Sheffield made
1897P World War One era British infantry officer's sword.
A lovely quality WW1 sword. Clearly made during the mid to late
war period due to the stamped "proved" mark. A quality
and sturdy sword made in the capital of fine steel at that time,
The 32 1/2 inch blade is very well etched and in very good condition
for its age, and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt has some minor
blemishes and .tarnishing but would clean up if desired (we would
leave as is, as it reflects the age of the sword very nicely). Grip
also very good (some small wear / faded patches one side, but not
so much), the leather field service scabbard a little worn and aged
but still very good. The sword sheathes and draws very well.
Well above average. Please quote item reference number I22 (1051).
