1821P Victorian British Light Calvary Officer's
Sabre, sold |
In very good condition, a superbly made Andrews of Pall Mall Victorian
British light cavalry officer's sabre with earlier tablet etching.*

This is a cracking 1821P Victorian British light cavalry officer's
sabre. The blade is the 1845 version, but the etching is Georgian
/ early Victorian, so we believe the sword was actually made in
1845.

The impressive 35 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition, the
etching still very crisp. The blade was period sharpened, clearly
done by Andrews (not in the field) as it is so well done and does
not spoil the look of the blade as so many sharpenings have. The
blade is firm in the hilt, the steel hilt also very good. The fishskin
grip with some wear, but not too much; the associated twisted grip
wire bindings are very good. The steel field service scabbard is
in very good condition. The sword sheathes and draws very well.
This is a well above average example and worth every penny. Please
quote item reference number H28 (999). Further / full sized pictures
available upon request.
