1790 / 1800 British Grenadier Company Officer's
Sword, Sold |
In very good condition for its age, a rare Georgian (circa 1790
to 1800) British grenadier company officer's sword, blue and gilt
etched, JJ Runkel blade.

JJ Runkel blades were believed to be the finest by British army
officers in the early Georgian era; this one is a good example why.
The sword is a loose pattern for a grenadier officer, as they were
at the time; this one with a single spiral bar guard.

The 31 inch blade retains some blue and gilt etching, is overall
in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt is very
solid both in terms of its construction and condition. The black
fishskin grip is ion very good shape, the silver metal twisted grip
wire bindings are good but the smaller strands are a little loose
/ wayward in sections.
In any event, this is a well above average example of a particularly
rare sword and well worth the £xxx price tag (too late, now
sold - we will divulge the original sales price however for a small
fee). Please quote item reference G83 (969). Further / full sized
images available upon request.
