French Pirate (Flibustiers Du Cap) Captain's
Sword, sold |
A genuine French Caribbean pirate's sword, almost certainly a
pirate ship's captain or at least a senior officer, most likely
around 1780.

You can not get much more evocative and / or rare then this genuine
French Caribbean pirate officer's sword, or ask for more proof that
pirates were actually an unofficial arm of their country's navy.
The etch work on this cutlass sword confirms exactly what it is,
plus the fact French pirates were honored in France (as English
pirates were honored in Britain), otherwise no sword cutler would
dare etch "Flibustiers Du Cap" on the 68cm blade.Further
pictures available upon request. Item reference number 100 (94)
