Prussian 1889M Garde Infanterie Degen / Infantry
Guards Sword, Sold |
A rare 1889 Model Prussian infantry officer's sword for the Preußische
Gardekorps.

The 1889M is quite a common sword in the collector's market, but
this one is special, it bears the badge of the Preußische
Gardekorps, with motto "Suum Cuique" (to each what
he deserves).

The plain double fullered 74 cm blade is in very good condition
and firm in the hilt, the hilt with the cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm
II is in good condition, the fishskin grip, twisted grip wire bindings
and badge of the Prussian Guard Corps are all good, some wear to
the fishskin. The blackened steel scabbard is good, a small kink
(both sides), nothing much. The sword sheathes and draws very well,
the scabbard holding the blade firm when inverted.
