1897P George VII British Northumberland Fusiliers
Officer's Sword, sold |
In very good condition, a rare Northumberland Fusiliers officer's
sword, WW2 era.

An exceptionally rare version of the 1897P British infantry officer's
sword, with the distinctive flaming grenade to the hilt of the Northumberland
Fusiliers. These are very scarce swords, this one made even scarcer
by the fact it is in such good condition.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition, so patina speckles
to a small area and to the edges, but nothing much. The blade is
firm in the hilt, the hilt also very good; some slight / small rust
spots to the inside of the hilt, one slight nick to the lower edge,
some rusting to the ferule (the small metal band where the grip
meets the inside of the guard); again, nothing much. The black fishskin
grip with its twisted grip wire bindings are in very good order.
The plated steel scabbard in very good condition, some slight small
stain circles but nothing much, and these should clean out if required.
Lovely, rare sword. ours is a very reasonable price. Full sized
/ additional photos available upon request. Please quote item reference
