Rare Brass Hilt / Grip 1821P Heavy Cavalry
Sergeant's Sabre, sold |
In good condition, an exceptionally rare brass hilt and brass
grip 1821 pattern heavy cavalry pipe back sabre.

So rare that we have never come across one before. This is an 1821
pattern British heavy cavalry officer's sabre but with a brass grip
for a sergeant, the guard is also brass. If you are looking for
a rare one-off, no-one else has one sword, this is probably the
one for you.

Probably 1830 (late Georgian) based solely on the pipe-back blade
and the fact there were a number of brass gripped sergeants swords
for other services around that time. It looks like it has endured
some use (handling).

The 80cm slightly curved blade is in good condition except for
some wear at the point end (from where it had been sharpened) and
a nick to the cutting edge of the forward section, and is firm in
the hilt. The hilt is in good shape, the grip equally. The sword
sheathes and draws very well. Again, an exceptionally rare sword
and therefore the price is a very good investment. Further / large
images available upon request. Please quote item reference number
