Sales enquiries

One of the best George 5th 1897 pattern British infantry officer's swords we have seen, complete with leather field service scabbard, belts and sword knot. We have not researched the Wilkinson Sales ledger to determine the original purchaser / officer, but this normally can be done for £10 if of interest.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition, a very small number of tiny former rust spots; the sword may have been replated at some time but, if so, it was done very well and presumably by Wilkinson's themselves. In any event, the etching is still clear. Blade firm in the hilt; the hilt also in very good condition. The black faux fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings are exceptionally good. Apart from the slight aging / wear on the leather items, we believe this sword is in parade ground condition. The leather scabbard, knot and belts are all good. The sword sheathes and draws very well. Incredibly good value. Further / large images available upon request. Please quote item reference number D77 (751).
