Georgian British Army Officer's Blue &
Gilt Etched Sword Stick, Sold |
A pre-1801 British army officer's sword stick, the blue and gilt
etching still strong, in good overall order.

A very rare item which normally sell for up to twice what we are
asking for this fine blue and gilt etched Georgian British army
officer's sword stick with pre-1801 Royal Coat of Arms.

The 28 1/2 inch blade is marked on the spine to quality sword maker
JJ Runkel of Solingen. The blue and gilt etching with Georgian "GR"
royal cypher and pre-1801 Royal Coat of Arms is in very good condition
for its age; it has been period sharpened, as you would expect for
such a self-defence weapon. The blade is firm in the grip, the grip
aged but good. The stick scabbard is very aged with some arts missing
/ cracking, as should be expected for such a light composite wood
item of this age. However, we believe the scabbard can be fairly
easily refurbished by a keen amateur handyman, without the need
to go to a professional refurbisher.
In any event, this is a superb bargain for such a rare item with
such good blue and gilt etch remaining. Our price is only £xxx
(too late, now sold - original sales price divulged for small fee).
