Mid Victorian 1827P British Royal Naval Officer's
A mid-Victorian British Royal naval Officer's Sword in good condition.
The folding guard (no locking pin hole) and curved blade tell us
this sword is circa 1850-1855.
The 32 1/4 inch blade is in good order with a overall pleasing
patina with the etching still reasonably clear. The blade which
has no maker's mark is firm in the hilt. The hilt very good indeed
for its age. The fishskin grip a little worn and grubby, the associated
twisted grip wire bindings in very good shape. The folding section
of the guard is good and strong. The leather of the scabbard is
aged with surface losses, but generally sound. The scabbard fittings
are loose (they will come off) but can simply be glued firm if required.
The sword sheathes and draws very well. An above average example
for sure. Further / full sized images upon request. Please quote
