1821/96P EVII 9th Queens Own Royal Lancers
Officers Sword, sold |
In very good condition, a really lovely 1821 / 1896 pattern British
cavalry officer's sword, etched to the 9th Queens Own Royal Lancers.

A superb "honeysuckle" hilt King Edward 7th cavalry officer's
sword, the blade etched to the prestigious 9th Queens Own Royal
Lancers. The blade marked to upmarket outfitters "Lesley &
Roberts, George Street, Hanover Street, (West) London".

The 35 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition, some scuffing
but overall excellent for the age, well etched with Edward 7th's
royal cypher and the 9th Queens Own Royal Lancers. The blade is
firm in the hilt. The face of the hilt is very good, there is some
former light rust to the inside of the bowl but this does not detract.
The fishskin grip is good, clearly having been held so a little
worn, the twisted grip wire bindings with some strand loses. The
steel scabbard in very good order and the sword sheathes and draws
very well.
A superb well above average example of this iconic cavalry sword
made even more valuable by the markings to the 9th Lancers. A great
investment; you will drive fellow collectors crazy with envy with
this one! Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
