1821 Patt British Heavy Cavalry NCO's Sword
/ Sabre, sold |
In very good condition, an 1821 pattern British heavy cavalry
NCO's sabre / sword.

A rare item, very few of these swords were ever made. Clearly this
one was for dress / formal / regimental display use as it has never
been sharpened. A private purchase (by the regiment) sword for a
senior NCO, this 1821P has a fishskin grip and no "ear lobes",
so the grip is like an officer's sword. There are also absolutely
no markings to sabre, again showing that it was bought by a regiment
to be carried solely when on parade.
The 35 inch plated blade is in very good condition, some small
areas of plating loss, not many, and is firm in the hilt. The plated
hilt also in good condition, one area of plating gone, but not too
noticeable as it is good quality steel that now shows. The fishskin
and twisted grip wire bindings are in good to very good order, some
wear, not much. The backstrap has plating loss. The steel scabbard
in very good order, a small ding, some patina spots, but very good
overall. The sword sheathes and draws very well.
A guaranteed authentic 1821P heavy cavalry trooper's sabre in very
good condition. Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
