Very Good Wilkinson ERII British Army Officer's
Sword, sold |
In very good condition, an Elizabeth 2nd (ERII) 1897 pattern British
army / infantry officer's sword, by Wilkinson.

Serial number 100624 for 1972, we believe this current pattern
/ monarch British / Canadian / Australian / New Zealand infantry
officer's sword is just within parade ground condition, and would
almost certainly improve further if required.

The 32 1/2 inch (7/8 inch width at ricasso) is in very good condition,
some slight streaking from being drawn / sheathed, virtually spotless,
firm in the hilt. The hilt with the slightest of frosting (aging)
but not very noticeable and which would, we believe, clean up to
a brilliant shine with some good metal polish and a bit of careful
time. The grip is all very good, a little cleaning might be desirable
for perfection. The leather field scabbard has some small scuffs
which would probably (shoe) polish out. The sword sheathes and draws
well enough, not as tight as Victorian era swords but then, alas,
some technology / skills do not improve with time.
Still, a lovely sword. Further / full sized pictures available
upon request. Please quote item reference number
