1897P George 6th / WW2 British Infantry Officer's
Sword, sold |
In good to very good condition, a George VI (WW2 era) British
infantry officer's sword.

A good WW2 era British army officer's sword. The photos tell a
good and accurate story; there is some edge rusting to the blade,
but not so much, and the overall appearance is very good indeed.
No maker's name so probably actually bought by the original officer
owner during WW2.

The 33 inch blade is nicely grey etched; the patina / rust spots
are mostly light and could be improved with some careful TLC. The
blade overall looks fine and is firm in the hilt. The plated hilt
is exceptionally good, the fishskin grip plus twisted grip wire
bindings also well above average. The leather frog suspension loop
has a little surface leather loss but is sound. The leather scabbard
and sword knot are very good indeed, and original. The sword sheathes
and draws like a dream. A great buy at £325. Further / full
sized images upon request. Our item reference number is C99 - Box
730-1m.
