1897P George V / WW1 British Infantry Officer's
Sword (sold) |
In good condition, a Fenton made George 5th / World War One British
infantry officer's sword and scabbard.

A good example of a British WW1 infantry sword with nice and highly
prized grey etching. Made by Fenton Brothers Ltd. Sheffield, Sword
Cutlers to the War Office.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in good condition with some patina spots
as to be expected, and is firm in the hilt. The steel hilt is in
excellent condition for the age of sword, patina patches to most
of the blade but no pitting, and is firm in the hilt. The grip is
equally in very good order, the fish skin and twisted grip wire
in great shape. The original leather sword knot is complete, but
one section is broken, and the entire knot aged, but a welcome bonus.
The leather field service scabbard is good, some wear. The sword
sheathes and draws well. Please quote reference number B86 (577).
