19th Century Ottoman Empire Shamshir

Sales enquiries

With typical horn scaled bulbous grip and "Pro Deo et Patria" inscription to the blade forte, this is a scarce 19C Ottoman cavalry shamshir.

The 31 1/2 inch blade is in good shape with clear albeit worn etching still present. Blade firm in the hilt. The grip good but aged and with one rivet missing either side and the metal backstrap can be displaced from the crossguard (useful as you can verify the grip is horn); easily glued back if required. A very sound investment. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Please quote item reference number B75.
