1854/1869 Model Danish Artillery Officer's
Sword, sold
|
A scarce 1854/1869 model Danish artillery officer's sword, scabbard
and sword knot (Sværd: Artillerisabel for beredne M1854/1869,
større).

Quite a scarce sword, partly because they are often quickly and
wrongly identified as German or Austrian artillery swords, which
is not surprising, not least as this one was made by Weyersberg,
Kirschbaum & Company in Solingen; marked with their Trademark
under one of the langets. However, under the other langet, there
is "Seifert & Nørgaard, Kjøbenhavn".
The 32.5 inch blade is in good shape and firm in the hilt. The
hilt also very good. The fishskin grip is worn but mostly sound
(some patches are worn through). The twisted silver wire bindings
are good. The original sword knot aged but good. The steel scabbard
has had some damage and been repaired but is also good overall.
The blade sheathes and draws very well. As you can probably not
find another one to buy anywhere else, we'd say our price is a very
good one. Full sized pictures available upon request. Please quote
