George / WW1 Scottish Royal Engineers Officers
Sword, sold |
In aged but sound condition, a George / WW1 Scottish Royal Engineers
Officers Sword.

It is a British 1897 pattern Royal Engineers officer's sword but
with a definite preference for thistles on the blade.

The 32 3/4 inch blade has a lot of patina and the etching is often
difficult to see clearly, but overall is good / sound and firm in
the hilt. The hilt with some age but good. The grip with age / wear
but sound, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The leather scabbard
and straps are aged but sound. The sword sheathes and draws well.
The thistles make this quite a unique sword and well priced at
just £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference
