1882M Dutch Naval Officer's Sword by E &
F Horster, WW1 era, Sold |
In good to very good condition, a scarce 1882M Dutch Naval Officer's
Sword by E & F Horster, WW1 era.

A lovely sword, almost certainly WW1 era (just before) and therefore
ironically made by the German maker, E & F Horster.

The 32 inch inch blade is superbly deep etched including to the
spine, and in exceptional condition (only a very small number of
tiny patina spots). Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard good,
some wear to the inside lip (from being worn by an officer). The
ivory grip is very good (feint tiny hairline cracks as to be expected
with genuine ivory, one tiny little chip next to the back piece
on side. The twisted grip wire is complete but one lesser strand
is wandering. The brass and leather scabbard is aged (the leather
has lost some of it surface) but is sound and possibly can be quite
easily improved. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Well above average condition on a scarce sword. Bargain! £?
