Sold Item Notice

Post 1874 (Kenning opened in Glasgow that year), pre 1902 (when Queen Victoria died). George Kenning was a reputable sword cutler (so the blade was not made by his firm, rather it was hilted by him).

The 31 3/4 inch blade is in generally good condition and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt with folding guard section in good order. The fishskin grip good but some flaking of the white lacquering. Twisted grip wire is good but a couple of lesser strands slightly astray. The leather and brass fittings scabbard is good but with a couple of kinks / folds. The sword sheathes and draws well; the folding guard locks onto the retaining pin of the scabbard. Complete with original sword knot in aged but good condition.

A good example at a fair price: £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AD62 (0552). Further / full sized images available upon request.
