Sales enquiries

A scarce sword. Cuirassiers had little mounted roles to play in WW1 and were consigned to the history books after that war. Most likely this officer's mount ended up as a roast dinner for the regiment while he manned a machine gun post.

The 29 inch blade is etched "In Treue fest" (steadfast in loyalty) both sides. There are some inert rust patches towards the point, but the sword is overall good and firm in the hilt. The hilt and grip are good, as is the original sword knot. The black painted steel scabbard is good for the age, and the sword sheathes and draws well.

Scarce sword in above average condition and at a nice low price of £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AD29 (0445). Further / full sized images available upon request.
