French Model 1822 Sabre de Cavalerie de Ligne,
dated June 1829, Sold |
In very good condition, a French Model 1822 Sabre de Cavalerie
de Ligne, dated June 1829.

An iconic and quite scarce French Model 1822 Sabre de Cavalerie
de Ligne, Klingenthal manufactured, correct
poinçons, dated June 1829. This one has lost most of
its twisted grip wire bindings but this is very easily replaced
by even the most novice of handymen (simply use jewelry brass wire,
double it and then twist it using a vice and the drill bit jaws
of an electric drill on very slow speed.

The exceptionally impressive 97.5 cm blade is in very good condition
with just a little patina towards the tip end. Firm in the hilt;
the solid brass hilt good. Original grip leather intact; some age
/ wear but overall good. The browned (original chemically browned,
not patina / rust) heavy steel scabbard is very good save for a
couple of inert rust splodges. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Lovely iconic sword. A good price at just £? (too late, now
sold) . Please quote item reference number AD16 (0415). Further
/ full sized pictures available upon request.
