Napoleonic British Heavy Cavalry Officer's
Blue & Gilt Dress Sword, Sold |
In very good condition, a 1796P Napoleonic British Heavy Cavalry
Officer's Blue & Gilt Dress Sword, by JJ Runkel.

With plenty of blue and gilt etching remaining, the sword blade
has a pre-1801 British Royal Coat of Arms, plus the sword has a
steel (not leather) scabbard, so was obviously also intended for
mounted use.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition, minimal patina,
but the blue and gilt etch is worn / aged (one side particularly).
Blade firm in hilt but shell guard is a little loose. Twisted silver
metal grip is in good condition. The steel scabbard very good for
age. The sword sheathes and draws well.
What a spectacular sword and who knows what exploits the original
owner / officer saw / was involved in. Available for £? (too
late, now sold). Please quote item reference AC65 (0325). Further
/ full sized pictures available upon request.
