18/19C Indo-Persian Marathi Dandpatta Patta Sword Glove, Sold

In good overall condition, a scarce 18th / 19th Century Indo-Persian Marathi Dandpatta Patta Sword Glove. This item is now reserved under our layaway program until 16th February 2018.

Possibly wootz steel construction blade has a fair number of old maybe period nicks to both cutting edge. The length of the blade suggests this Patta was made for mounted use.

The blade is an almighty 38 1/8 inches long; it has a damaged (been bent and straightened) tip and multiple old nicks to the cutting edges. Blade quite firm in the hilt (most are a little loose). The brass gauntlet / glove hilt is in good condition, though has lost a few of the small suspensions along the sides.
