18/19C Indian Maratha Pata Gauntlet Sword, Sold

In good overall condition, a scarce 18th / 19th Century Indian Maratha Pata Gauntlet Sword.

Possibly wootz steel (the blade); it has a speckled patination.

The sword is an impressive 44 1/2 inches in total. The 31 3/4 inch blade maybe of of wootz steel. It is in good condition, though the very tip end has ben backwards. The blade is a little loose in the hilt as is quite normal; could be tightened. The brass glove hilt is good but with a couple of dents.
