This is a true 1816M with a rounded back edge to the blade (many if not most 181M's used earlier An XIII flat spine blades). One of the poinçons is very feint, as is the date inscription the the spine, but we have determined the poinçons are for Jean-Georges Bick (clear),
François Louis Lobstein (clear), Jean Joseph Cécile Bureau (feint) and the spine date inscription for 1820 (feint).

The impressive 38 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt all good, as is the leather grip and twisted grip wire bindings. The steel scabbard has pitting, especially towards the chape / drag, The rack / weapon number on the upper ring is 196 so matches the hilt number and therefore the scabbard is original to the sword. The sword sheathes and draws well.

A very good, well above average example of this scarce sword; yours for £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AC52 (0305). Further / full sized images available upon request.
