In such good condition, even the sword knot is good on this one. Owner's / officer's initials "N R B" engraved to top fitment of scabbard, by reference to the Navy List, it should be possible to determine the identity of that officer, and his career / fate.

The 17 15/16 inch blade is in very good overall condition with very few patina spots and little wear. Blade firm in hilt. The hilt and grip all very good. Sword knot good. The scabbard, yes, good! The dirk sheathes and draws well. The locking pin mechanism works well. Etched to "Gieves" who sold Wilkinson Sword edged weapons, so this dirk was made by Wilkinson and it shows.

A truly well above average piece with plenty of research opportunity. Well prices at £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AC42 (0287). Further / full sized images available upon request.
