19C Borneo Dyak Mandau Parang Ihlang, Sold

In good condition (hilt with damage), a 19C Borneo Dyak Mandau Parang Ihlang with an exceptional blade.

One of the best blades we have seen for a 19the Century Dyak Mandau (Parang Ihlang). Apart from the brass inserts, this blade is engraved and the edge detail are cut from the blade itself (not simply forged on).

The 21 1/2 inch blade has lost a few brass disc inserts but is generally very good and firm in the hilt. The animal bone hilt has suffered with age and has pieces chipped off. The sheath is generally good but has lost a piece at the end one side. The sword sheathes and draws well.
