George V Flights / Wilkinson British Infantry
Officer's Sword, Sold |
In very good condition, a Flights (Wilkinson) George V British
infantry officer's sword.

Wilkinson made swords for Flights. This sword is etched to the
ricasso "Flights Ltd. London Camberley Aldershot & Woolwich"
which means the sword is post 1920.

The extra long (presumably for a tall officer) 33 inch blade is
in very good condition, the etching still very clear, and firm in
the hilt. The hilt with some aging, but not much at all. The black
fishskin grip has faded a little in places, but is still very good,
as are the twisted grip wire bindings (a couple of the smaller standards
ever so slightly astray in places). The leather sword knot, field
service scabbard and suspension frog / straps aged but good. The
sword sheathes and draws well.
Wilkinson made a great quality sword and this one retailed by Flights
Ltd is well above average. A superb addition to any collection for
only £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference
number AB45 (0099).
