In good to very overall condition, a scarce Victorian British
Royal Navy officer's sword with Claymore blade, the sword of F G
McKintry, once commander on the Trafalgar Class Battleship HMS Nile.
A scarce Claymore bladed Royal Naval officer's sword made rare
by the fact it also has a solid tang hilt / grip, made even more
valuable by the fact that this is the sword of F G McKintry, R.N.

The 32 1/4 inch blade, marked to Seagrove outfitters of Portsea,
is in good condition but the etching is worn. Blade firm in the
hilt, the hilt in good condition with some gilt remaining. The white
fishskin grip is losing some of its white, but is in very good order,
as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The leather and gilt metal
fittings scabbard is in good though aged condition. The folding
guard section of the grip, engraved "F G McKintry R.N."
works well and locates properly onto the retention pin of the scabbard.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
Claymore bladed swords are always at a premium. Solid hilt grips
are always at a premium. Named swords with full provenance are always
at a premium. So our price of £? (too late, now sold)is actually
below market, price wise (a good investment). Please quote item
