The 32 1/4 inch blade, marked to Seagrove outfitters of Portsea, is in good condition but the etching is worn. Blade firm in the hilt, the hilt in good condition with some gilt remaining. The white fishskin grip is losing some of its white, but is in very good order, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The leather and gilt metal fittings scabbard is in good though aged condition. The folding guard section of the grip, engraved "F G McKintry R.N." works well and locates properly onto the retention pin of the scabbard. The sword sheathes and draws well.

Claymore bladed swords are always at a premium. Solid hilt grips are always at a premium. Named swords with full provenance are always at a premium. So our price of £? (too late, now sold)is actually below market, price wise (a good investment). Please quote item reference AB31 (0088). Further / full sized images available upon request.
