In very good condition, a WW2 Japanese army officer's shin gunto katana by Takeyama Yoshinao, with family mon attached.

Sold Item Notice

The tang / nakagi signed "Noshu seki ju Takeyama Yoshinao saku"; Takeyama Yoshinao was a Rikugun Jumei Tosho sword smith. This is a heavy weight shin gunto.

The 28 1/8 inch blade is in very good original condition with clear hamon and very few marks. The Tsuka is overall good, the locking pin is missing, one of the seppa washers is a later addition as it has no locking pin hole. But other than that, the shin gunto is very good indeed, and complete with a mon to the kashira / pommel. The saya / scabbard in good order, the sword sheathes and draws well.

A great condition impressively heavy shin gunto by a quality sword smith complete with officer's family mon; all for only £x (too late, now sold - original sales price divulged for small fee). Please quote item reference AA92 (0066). Further / large images available upon request.
