French Model 1855 Infantry Officer's Sword (sold)

In good condition, a French 1855 modele infantry officer's sword, scabbard and passementerie (knot).

A good sword in above average condition. Dated on the spine to March 1869, the 30 1/2 inch blade is in good order, with various patina spots around but no pitting. Firm in the hilt, the blade sheathes and draws pretty well, the internal liners of the steel scabbard clearly worn / gone. The steel scabbard is in good shape but for one ding near the chape. The walnut grip in good order but missing its twisted wire bindings. The hilt itself is nice and good. The sword knot is in good order and a welcome bonus.
