French 1822 Model Cavalry Trooper's Sabre

In very good condition overall, a legendary 1822M French cavalry
trooper's sabre, dated August 1876, complete with scabbard and leather
sword knot. This item is now secured with a deposit under our layaway
plan until 24th January 2014 (or earlier).
 

One of the famous M1822 cavalry sabres used by the French for many
years, this one made over 50 years after the model was made official,
a testament to the sabre design.

The impressive deadly 92 cm blade even putting a "long knife"
(US cavalry sabre) to "shame". This blade is in superb
condition, except for one ding to the forte, and firm in the hilt.
The hilt is in very good order likewise, the original leather grip
aged but complete, the twisted grip wire present and correct. Sheathes
and draws well into / out of the steel scabbard. Includes original
leather sword knot. A well above average example. Great value at
