1890P Enfield Made British 3rd Hussars Cavalry
Trooper's Sword (sold) |
In very good condition, an 1890P British cavalry trooper's sword
marked to the 3rd Hussars.
In well above average condition, this Enfield made 1890P was commissioned
in 1897. With various markings to the hilt and scabbard, the sword
went to a trooper in the 3rd Hussars in a scabbard previously in
service with the 4th Hussars (original service date November 1893).
This is quite likely a period cross-match as army items were not
discarded or put into stores lightly.
The 34 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt. The famous Maltese Cross hilt is in very good order, as is
the bakerlite grip. The sword sheathes well. The scabbard in very
good order (one throat screw missing).
