VGC WW2 Japanese Naval Officer's Kaigunto
Katana, sold |
A very good condition WW2 Japanese naval officer's kaigunto katana,
unsigned (numbered) blade with Toyakawa naval arsenal (anchor) stamp.

A 100% authentic Japanese world war two navy officer's sword in
very good condition. I am certain it has a so-called "machine
made" blade. There is no signature to the tang, just the number
"559" stamped to it, along with the anchor naval stamp.
Although there is a signature to one of the fittings (please do
not ask for a photo of it, I just mention this as a matter of fact).

It is rare to find a kaigunto like this in such good order. Although
the blade is machine made, the tsuka (grip) and saya (scabbard)
are of rayskin, so I suspect the original officer had some standing.

The 62 cm blade is in very good order, a few minor scratches and
saya scuffing, but not much; a very good example overall. Further
/ full sized images upon request. Our item reference number is 801
