Wilkinson ERII British Royal Naval Officer's
Sword (sold) |
In near new, parade ground condition, a Wilkinson ERII British
Royal Naval officer's sword, scabbard, sword knot, inner bag, all
weather bag and belts.

In my book, a near new British Wilkinson made sword is better anyday
than a new one from India, Germany or anywhere else. So, if you
are looking at this thinking is this a better bet for a serving
British / Australian / Canadian / New Zealand naval officer than
something new and foreign, the answer is 100% yes. Not only will
the sword be more interesting to fellow officers, but it will also
prove to be a much better long term investment.

Serial number 124213 for 1994, the sword is in excellent condition.
The grip a little (and I mean a little) grubby from previous use,
the odd slight rubbing mark here and there, a few (and I mean a
few) tiny scuff marks, the sword knot a little weak near the joint
(I am sure this can be fairly easily fixed) plus one small strand
of fabric astray, the all weather bag needs some stiching one side
near the end, otherwise exceptional.
The 31 inch blade is in very good order to say the least; far superior
in my honest opinion to anything made today. The gilt very good
and bright, as new even. Some tender care with black shoe polish
would, I am sure, hide the few scabbard scuffs there are. The scabbard
pin locks perfectly into place with the folding hilt section. The
crimson lined all weather bag is nice. Belts in good order. Further
/ full sized photos available upon request. Item Ref: 785 (322).
