1827 P Victorian British Royal Naval Officer's
Pipe-Back Sword (sold) |
In very good original condition, a well etched pre-1846 British
naval officer's sword with pipe-back and quill point blade.

It is very, very rare to find one of these early Victorian British
Royal Naval officer's swords in such good condition, really. Beautiful
condition 28 1/2 inch pipe-back quill pointed blade, a small amount
of rust patina towards the point, firm in the hilt. Yes, the blade
is its original length; this sword was clearly made for a shorter
officer before regulations became hard and fast and uncomfortable
for some! Etched with crown and fouled anchor, plus swirls.

The hilt remarkably retains much of its original gilt; spectacular.
The folding guard (pre-locking pin) works just fine. The fishskin
is in superb condition, as are the twisted copper wire ring bindings.
The scabbard a little aged by very good; the centre fitting is loose.
The sword sheathes well. This is a rare chance to get such a very
good condition iconic collector's sword for just £? (too late,
now sold). Further / large images available upon request. My item
