1902 Patt British Westminster Dragoons Cavalry
Trooper's Sword (sold)
A rare 1902 pattern cavalry trooper's sword for the famous Westminster
This is a rare sword made exclusively for the Westminster Dragoons
by famous maker Hamburger Rogers & Co, the same maker of course
who make trooper sabres for the Household Cavalry.
Marked "2 CLY (2nd County of London Yeomanry) 40 (trooper
number 40)" to both the scabbard and inside of the guard (so
the scabbard is original to the sword which is a bonus). Remnants
of war time (WW1) paint exist, so I presume this sword was present
at the Battle of Gallipoli in August 1915 and perhaps the Battle
of Jerusalem (a Battle Honour for the Westminster Dragoons).
The 34 1/4 inch plain blade is in good order and firm in the hilt.
The hilt a little rusted and stained as to be expected. The ebonised
(black wooden) grip is in good order. The sword sheathes well. Get
it while you can, this is a rare sword. Further / full sized photographs
available upon request. Item reference number 575 (209)
