WW1 era / GV British Infantry Officer's Sword, Sold

In good condition, a WW1 era / GV British Infantry Officer's Sword, etched to Walters & Co (Oxford) Ltd.

A good 1897 pattern George V British infantry officer's sword. Leather, rather than fishskin grip indicates it was intended for use, not just dress. The stamped proof mark as opposed to brass proof slug indicates 1917-1918, the height of World War One. Walters & Co (Oxford) Ltd (company registered 3rd February 1912) are a tailors / outfitters in business to this day.

The 32 /13 inch blade in good condition, etching still vivid, some patina mostly towards the point, firm in the hilt. The steel hilt in sound condition; has been cleaned. The leather grip and twisted grip wire bindings in aged and slightly worn though good condition. The leather field service scabbard is aged with scrapes / wear but good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
