Not the best condition Trafalgar era cutlass, but a scarce one. This is an 1800s pattern cutlass and these were by far the vast majority of those on board the British naval fleet under Lord Horatio Nelson at Trafalgar.
The 25 3/4 inch blade is slightly shorter then it was originally as it has lost the tip due to fighting and / or corrosion. The blade is well pitted throughout and has several old nicks to the cutting edge, still firm in the hilt / grip. The figure of eight guard has a small chunk missing from the edge one side but still looks good and is sound, so too the smooth iron grip.
