A really heavy sword used by the Rhineland state of Wurttemberg’s Dragoons and, bizarrely / reportedly, Lancers! This one has the original regimental markings “3” stamped later / over with “2” and more that is too rubbed / worn to discern most probably / lately therefore the 2nd Württemberg Dragoons “King” Regiment. Plus later Imperial German markings “A. M. XIII. 4. 91” for Artillery Munition (“Train” / wagon) Regiment 13, 4 for Wurttemberg, Weapon 91 to both the inside of the guard and top of scabbard; matching rack numbers!
This is a rare sword, not least as Wurttemberg is such a small state to have its own sword models, plus the fact it was superseded by the m1820 three years later and those still in service with their cavalry were totally replaced by the m1859 (which is when this sword would have been moved to the artillery train regiment).

The 34 1/4 inch period sharpened blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt / guard is a little aged with a little light rust but is in good condition. The original leather grip is worn and aged but good for age. The heavy steel scabbard has age and minor dings but is really good for its age and service life. The sword sheathes and draws well but is quite tight when fully sheathed.
