In good condition, a Sheffield made WW1 British Army Service Corps Officer’s Sword
Etched “Clement Gray Sheffield” to the ricasso / forte, with serial number 7030 the spine. World War One British Army Service Corps Officer’s Swords are actually scarce items.
The 34 1/2 inch superior Sheffield steel blade is well etched and firm in the hilt with little wear / patina / pitting to show for its antique age, and is form in the hilt. The black fishskin grip is a little faded, but good, as are the associated twisted grip wire bindings. The leather field service scabbard with a little age is a but dry (leather balsam may be used), but good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Very nice example, very fair price: £400. Please quote item reference ZZ70. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1714-112x15x14 (1.713)
